Iceland Wedding Photographer // Hannah & Jeff

We want to share with you this little love story of a small group of people that battled the fierce wind to gather together in a small black church to laugh and cry together. To others this might just seem like a small wedding gathering at the edge of the world but it filled this little group with a new found sense of wonder and adventure.

This was one of those early April days where spring is but a whiff in the air and you still get to fight all the elements in one day. The clouds danced on the mountain tops, forming all kinds of shapes and the ground still fast asleep even though the final remains of the winter's snow had blown away. Hannah, Jeff and their families and friends welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to document some very intimate moments between all of them in one of the most emotional ceremony we've witnessed. We'll let Hannah explained it in her own words "Our ceremony had special personal touches that created a profound feeling of connection. My mother passed away about two years prior to our wedding and after walking down the aisle together, my father and I lit a candle on the altar and held a quiet moment to remember and welcome her presence. Throughout the ceremony as the wind whistled around the church, I felt she was with us." Their friends then surprised them by reading an Icelandic poem aloud that didn't leave a dry eye in the church.

After they exchanged their vows and hugged their families we ventured out to brave the fierce winds again exploring the surrounding mountains and beaches. Seeking shelter from the relentless winds in abandoned houses and cliffs filled with seabirds. As the light faded we headed back to the warmth of the hotel to fill our stomachs with good food and our hearts with laughter and love.
